Welcome To Leyte Blog Network

Posted by Joel Tan Tuesday, February 2, 2010

I'm sure you're tired of reading through welcome postings of various blogs, but it's a requisite that can't be denied. We all need some assurance that we are welcome, be it to enter a dwelling, to start eating at a party, to hold someone's hand, or simply to converse with a crush.

So I bid you welcome to this blog, Leyte Blog Network, which I intend to use as an aggregator of news and other information about Leyte, and as an anchor site for my different blogs.

I've got a lot of work ahead of me, and I know it's going to be tough, considering my penchant for losing time to do some of the stuff I love such as, of all things, blogging and playing massively multiplayer online games with family and friends.

Another issue I have to remedy in the near future is the need for a new digital camera to replace my rickety old film-based camera to provide my blogs with a steady stream of images. Fortunately, I was able to purchase a scanner a few months ago thanks to my blog earnings, mostly from Google Adsense.

And now for that burning question, "Why Leyte?" For the benefit of those who are unfamiliar with the word, "Leyte" is the name of a place, actually a province in the Southeast Asian country that is the Philippines. I moved to Leyte in an effort to keep my family intact since living and working in Metro Manila far from loved ones drains me emotionally far more than any other trying situation.

No biggie. Leyte is a great place to raise a family, although I can't say the same for employment opportunities. Leyte isn't devoid of opportunities, though. I liken the place to a chick ready to burst out of an egg. A lot of big things are in store for this southern Philippine province and I intend to be here when it happens.

X!S! (read: excess): If you are a blogger who is based in Leyte, feel free to drop me a line. Maybe we—all of us bloggers in Leyte—can collaborate to make a blog network that is truly representative of the hopes, dreams and aspirations of this province's people.

About Us

Joel Tan
My name is Joel Tan. Many of you probably know me from MMOtaku, a blog I handled for b5media's EveryJoe for almost three years, from the last quarter of 2007 to the first quarter of 2010. Recently, I've decided to write for my own blog, The MMOsh Pit, that focuses on very much the same theme of my former network-based blog—massively multiplayer online games. Why call it The MMOsh Pit? Because MMOGs and the virtual worlds that they spawn are like concerts where some people are at the fringes, content in listening to the music from afar and apart from everyone else, while others are drawn to the center, in the mosh pit where the real action happens.
